What is Liquid Level Control?

Liquid level control is the level of almost any fluid or moist solid. These units are available with adjustable or fixed set points to control the levels in fluids by having an external circuit resistance up to 3,000,000 ohms. They can detect the level of substances of flow that include slurries, granular materials, powders and liquids. The fluidized solids and fluids flow have become essentially to level in their containers or any other physical boundaries because of the gravity whereas most bulk solids are piles at an angle of repose to the peak.


This substance is measured inside a container and they can be in natural form. The level of measurement can be either point values or continuous. The continuous level sensors are measured in a level within a specified range and are determined by the exact amount of substance in a certain place while the point level sensors will only indicate whether the substance is below or above the liquid level control.


There are many physical and application variables that may affect the selection of the optimal level monitoring method for commercial processes and industrial. The selection criteria includes the physical such as slurry, solid or liquid, chemistry, density or agitation. This is also important for application of constraints like accuracy, appearance, response rate and price.


In operation, two or more submerged liquid level is passed by a minute electrical current through the liquid to be controlled. Currently, these are typically 500 microamperes and are introduced to a solid-state resistance-sending amplifier which provides sufficient gate signal to trigger the silicon-controlled rectifier (SCR). The firing threshold is usually accurate to within 2% of operating differential as well as they are adjustable by a potentiometer. As for the output of the SCR is used to operate the plug-in control relay and when they anticipated loads exceed the standard relay and an auxiliary contactor is utilized.


The control models are namely ELS, LCS/LHS, LCF and RSA are designed for forward mode operation. They can interpret a decrease of the external circuit resistance from a set point as an “ON” signal. The model LCR is designed for reverse mode operation. This is to energize the external circuit resistance that increases the above set point. The model DLC is intended primarily for the pump and heater level or lockout applications.


The liquid level control can be used for portable water such as water with purities and for diesel or oil and there is no restriction of cable size and length for water level monitoring. Besides, they are suitable for a variety of electrodes and there is optical sensing for the oil or diesel monitoring.
