Types of Pump Controls

Controls: Pump

Pump controls are equipment like wastewater processing, firefighting, agricultural applications and more. These usually occur during on the job with the equipment that will be used, and they are possible to take certifying courses as they may be necessary to carry a certification to work. Some qualified pump controls may also pursue certification such as mechanics and technicians to expand the scope jobs that they can perform. One form of pump controls are when handling the pumping apparatus on fire trucks and these includes tanker trucks with chemicals or water as well as other connections to hydrants for access to a steady supply of water. They need to be able to complete connections, direct fire personnel and control the flow of water when they work with the equipment. The most common types of pump controls are namely FPC-1200, Series SLD and Series MPC.

 

FPC-1200

They are float switch based duplex pump controls that are intended primarily for wastewater lift stations and other pump down applications. These include temperature failure of devices on most submersible pumps and sensor inputs for the seal failure. If seal fails, the seal indicator and output relay are energized and they will correspond to the pumps that are demoted to lag position. And if there is a temperature failure, the temperature fail indicator is energized and the corresponding pump will be disabled until the temperature failure condition no longer exists.

 

The Two 12V driver outputs are for the high alarm horn and light. If the high float is closed, the high alarm driver outputs will be activated and the indicator will flash on and off. The mute input and high alarm test are push-buttons that allow the alarm to be silenced and tested during the operation. As for the call indicators, they are energized when the pump controller activates each time and then the run indicators will energized by feed backing from each motor starter auxiliary contract.

 

These switches allow each pump to be disabled, energized automatically or energized manually by the float inputs. The lead pump selector will switch permits either to be selecting a lead pump or alternation that can be selected causing either pump to operate as lead. They are removable terminal strips to make replacement in the field quick and easy.

 

Series SLD

They are used to monitor the shaft seal of the submersible pumps to detect the leak before pump failure. The leak can be detected by using a conductivity switch or float in the seal activity and when the resistance drops below the set of sensitivity, the output relay energizes and the LED indicator illuminates. These offers normally for open and closed relay contacts to energize an alarm and de-energize the pump in the event of a leak or when the seal failure condition is cleared, the relay will automatically resets.

 

Series MPC

These types of pump controls provide a versatile level of control and are designed for use with any style level of transmitter that these units display on the present level and main set point value. In the MPC, they are incorporated with the programmable level differential for on and off control of one or two valves, pumps and other devices through the two relays. They are also featured in two other programmable alarm contacts with front alarm light indication. MPC pump controls are flexible and incorporate with the user-friendly programming menu. They are so many features that are combined into the MPC that can eliminate many components in a pump control system.
