Laser Cutting Machines

Laser cutting machine is a technology that uses a laser to cut materials and they are typically used for industrial manufacturing application. They can also be used by small businesses, schools and hobbyists. These lasers cutting works by a computer that directing the output of the high-power laser at the material that needs to be cut. The material will burn, melt or vaporize away and is blown away by a jet of gas that leaves an edge with a high quality surface finish. The industrial laser cutters are used to cut the lacerate flat-sheet material, piping and structural materials that are usually used in the industrial projects.

There are three main types of laser cutting machines that are used in the manufacturing industry. Some of these machines are moving material machines, hybrid configuration machines and flying optics machines. These different sorts of lasers can be used with any types of the laser cutting machines.

Moving material is one of the lasers machine configuration used in laser cutting. In the moving material machines, the laser beam will remain stationery while the material is moved using an automatically mobile surface located beneath the laser. An advantage of using this type of laser cutting machine is that the opening of the laser and the surface of material are kept apart at a constant distance while using lesser optics. This machine is considered as the slowest option.

The flying optics machine configuration is the fastest option. This type of laser cutting machine has feature of a movable laser beam that paired with stationery material. The laser beam is capable of moving along both the y and x axis of the material that contributes to the machine’s fast completion time. However, there is one disadvantage of the flying optics option is that the constant mobility of the laser head is lead to a constantly changeable beam length. This can be adjusted by using tools or by aligning the optics specially designed to keep the distance between the material constant and the laser opening.

The hybrid configuration is another standard configuration of laser cutting machines. They are combined features of both flying optics machines and moving materials. In the hybrid configurations, the laser head moves along the y-axis while the table moves along the x-axis of movement. This kind of combination of movement can lead to a more constant laser stream than flying optics machines can deliver. They can also lead to less loss of power and more energy efficiency than flying optics.

Additionally, these three primary machine configurations of laser cutting machines come with different types of lasers. The three types of lasers are the neodymium yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser, neodymium laser and the CO2 laser. Neodymium yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser is better suited for trimming, boring and engraving jobs that may require a greater source of energy whereas the neodymium laser is only suitable for less frequent boring situations and high energy.

The most popular type of lasers is the CO2 laser. This laser can handle cutting, boring and engraving materials. There are many variants of these lasers depending on the kind of industrial work that is being done. The CO2 laser cutting machines are used to cut a wide-range of materials which include titanium, fabric, stainless steel and plastic.
