Forklift is a vehicle that has a pronged device in front for carrying and lifting heavy loads. A forklift is also known as a fork truck or a lift truck and they are used to transport and lift materials. Forklifts have become an indispensable piece of equipment in the warehousing and manufacturing operations. Some designed to accommodate their safe movement as well as a critical element for distribution centers and warehouses. Forklifts can be outfitted with different types of attachments such as for carrying barrels instead of lifting pallets and every type of forklift is designed for certain specific working conditions and types of loads.

If in the case of drive-thru or drive-in racking, the forklift needs to travel inside a storage bay that have multiple pallet positions deep to place or retrieve a pallet. Forklift operators must pass a test for a specific type of forklift that they will be using before they are allowed to operate a forklift.

These well trained operators are usually guided into the bay through guide rails on the pallet and the floor that is placed on cantilevered rails or arms. Every pallet requires the truck to enter the storage structure therefore the damage is more common than other types of storage. These designs of the drive-in systems are dimensions of the forklift which include the mast width and overall width that must be carefully considered.

Forklifts are expensive vehicles that are used in the construction or manufacturing industry. Most industrials save money by purchasing a reconditioned forklift instead of a new model. Reconditioned forklifts have all the features and advantages of a new forklift and are usually easier on the pocket. Forklifts are used and sold to the forklifts companies for refurbishing and repair before selling them to industry that wants easy on their pocket and seeking for a reconditioned forklift that looks new.

There are several different types of forklifts that perform different job functions. The most common type of forklift is the counterbalance forklift. This machine has arms on the front which can be driven and picking up the item. Another type of forklift machines are three wheel forklift and reach trucks lift.

Three wheel forklifts are mainly used in the indoors, warehouse and other smooth surface where maneuverability and space makes the machine more efficient. Furthermore, forklifts are electric powered and their capacities range from 3,000 lbs to 5000 lbs. They also have cushion ties and are use for moving pallets, unloading trucks and other loads.

The counterbalance forklifts are used for quick unloading and loading of trucks in conditions where rider frequently needs to dismount and mount. Forklifts are primarily for indoor and on smooth surfaces. Their power source is the same as the three wheel forklifts, they are electric powered and their capacities range from 3000 lbs to 5000 lbs.

As for the reach truck lifts, they are used to rack pallets on smooth surfaces and are electric powered. They have single and double reach trucks. The single reach trucks can extend the distance of one pallet whereas the double reach trucks can extend the distance of two pallets. Forklift can also outriggers on the front of the vehicle to support the weight of the load and their capacities range is lower than the three wheel and counterbalance forklifts from 2500 lbs to 5000 lbs.
