Drum Handling Equipment

Drum handling equipment is mechanical equipment that is used to handle and transport cylindrical module such as drums, barrels steel, plastic and fiber drums. They have spring-loaded metal arms for a tight and secure grip and are commonly used in petroleum industries and chemical as well as industries that may require storing and shipping cylindrical modules.


The drum handler usually used for handling standard size of 55 gallon drum container however there are models that can handle bigger and smaller capacity drums. They are usually made of heavy duty metals with smooth coating. This drum handling equipment can be used to stack, lift, move, weigh, rack and pour barrels and drums.


There are different types of drum handling equipments that are available in today’s market such as mobile drum handler, forklift attachment, below-hook drum handler and drum rotator.


The forklift attachment is a type of drum handling equipment that is designed for easy slide into a forklift truck. This is used for efficiently and safely loading or unloading different types of drums and sizes. Besides they have become an indispensable piece of equipment in manufacturing and warehousing operations. Once they are inserted into the forklift truck, the operator can easily clamp, transport and lift drums anywhere. They are available in different models which include carrier with tilt function, forklift mounted, carrier without tilt function, multi-drum carrier, waist and rim type.


Mobile drum handler is a stand alone type of drum handling equipment unlike the forklift attachments. They have built-in wheels so that people can easily maneuver it anywhere. They are made with stainless steel and also have a wide heavy duty jaw that can grip the top rim of the standard drums. The two types of mobile drum handler which are the hydraulic powered and manual.


Another type of drum handling equipment that is commonly used is for tilt, lift and pours drums. They are made with premium grade stainless steel and features hydraulic powered lifting mechanism with a chain puller. They have features of a grip which holds the drum below the third ribbing or underneath and has lifting eyes or fork packets for added support. Examples, below-hook drum handler are drum lift carriers and drum pourers.


Drum rotator is used to rotate and invert drums as well as transfer contents from one container to another. This type of drum handling equipment features rotator and ring gears that can either be hydraulic powered or electric powered. Some examples are drum rollers, tumblers, stationary drum rollers and portable rollers.
