The Wärtsilä RT-flex50 offers maximum power output performance from 6100 to 13,960 kW at 99 to 124 rpm. It is a low-speed marine diesel engine of the crosshead type with uniflow scavenging. It is designed from the outset with electronically-controlled common-rail systems for fuel injection and valve actuation.
With the RT-flex common-rail system, fuel oil, servo oil and control oil are delivered at regulated pressures to rail pipes arranged along the side of the cylinders. Electronic control units then regulate delivery from these rail pipes for fuel injection and exhaust valve operation.
