Dentists are doctors who take good care of your dental health. Dentists undergo in an extensive training at exclusive dental schools for 5 to 6 years to acquire the Bachelor of Dental Surgery Degree (BDS) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). After finishing the course, it is required to take 1 year of practice or residency, only then they could practice their individual field of specialization once finish with the practice.

General Dentist is the one who are qualified to perform most of the dental procedures and they are the one who may refer the patient into Dental Specialist for consulting a second opinion or the patient’s condition that needs more attention which requires specialized skills and knowledge.

Dental Specialist is a dentist that acquires basic dental training and completed at least 2 years of training for their specific area of specialization and they responsible for special treatment and attention of a certain dental problem, and expected to cover more knowledge and skills on their chosen field of expertise with a full comprehension when it comes to general dentistry.

• Pediatric Dentist – deals with dental health care of children from childhood to teenage year, Pediatric Dentist aids the parents to teach their children on how they will care their teeth.
• Endodontist – Dental specialist that undergo training for executing root canal therapy. Endodontist are more focused on physiology, pathology and morphology of human periradicular tissues and dental pulp.
• Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon – is an orthopedic facial surgeon that is responsible for many kinds of dental problem like reconstructive facial surgery and removal of impacted teeth.
• Orthodontist – dental specialists who are expert in development, correction and prevention of irregularities of bite, jaw and teeth.
• Periodontist – specialist when it comes to dental gum related disease, dental implants and guided bone generation.
• Prosthodontist – this type of dental specialist understands the dynamics of smile create tooth replacement and preserves a healthy mouth.

As Dental Specialists, they do several treatments and procedures to alleviate and cure oral diseases like dental cavities, periodontal disease, tooth loss, oral cancer, infections, Oro-dental and many more.
