In 1947, the late Mr Ee Heng Lau founded Hong Lian Gim Kee (HLGK). From a modest wholesaler of rice and other food provisions, HLGK has grown over the years into one of the leading rice importers and exporters in Singapore with a wide variety of products marketed under the flagship brand known as “Golden Pineapple”. Since then, HLGK has diversified into related businesses beyond rice. In 1990, the Golden Pineapple Sugar product range was introduced offering retail as well as bulk packs. Currently, HLGK distributes their rice and sugar products to all major supermarket chains, provision stores, caterers, wholesalers, food-manufacturers, exporters and industrial end users. HLGK products have also been exported beyond Singapore shores to regional Asia.
