The argument is that if the motor vehicle is well maintained, then fuel additives are not necessary. Opponents of fuel additives believe that the only certain fuel additives provide the right amount of octane levels for the fuel additives to work. So why not use fuel that already has the right octane levels in the first place, rather than using the fuel with the wrong octane level and using a fuel additive to compensate. Only certain fuel additives provide higher amounts of octane levels, which mean that it will be more expensive. In this case, it may cost the same to purchase premium petrol instead. The logic is that if fuel additives are needed for an engine to run properly, then there is something wrong with the engine in the first place. This is because engines are supposed to run without any issues. Fuel additives are most efficient if the motor vehicle is not used very often as it will eliminate the buildup of deposits over time. However, if the engine is used often then it should not be a problem.

 

Overall, in order for a fuel additive to be of good use, the user has to properly assess the situation. If it really is more cost efficient to use one, then he or she has to make sure that they do their research to find a proper fuel additive for fuel treatment that actually works.
