Party Games

If you are planning to throw a party for your children, you may be struggling to come up with ideas to make it the best one ever. However, there are so many different things you can get, make and do to ensure your child has a party that they will never forget and all the guests have a memorable time as well.

Theme

One of the easiest ways to make a party amazing is to have a set theme for it. You can then take this as far as you want to - while still sticking to your set budget. You may want to get your child's friends to all dress up according to the same theme so that everyone can feel involved in the party properly and wear their favourite kids' fancy dress costumes.

If you are struggling to come up with suitable themes, have a think about what your child's favourite movies are or if they have a particular preference of characters or games. A few examples would be a Barbie theme, pirates, cops and robbers, Disney or animals. All of these are easy to find outfits for and don't necessarily break the bank either.

Decorations

This is where you can really have some fun and make the party extra special. Whether you are holding the party in a hall or your home, you can easily turn the space into something completely unique and exactly fitting with the theme. Get some large posters to hang from the walls that are either scenes related to your theme or pictures of characters associated with it. For example, you can hang a poster of a beach or the sea if you are having a pirate party. A big castle would work well for a princess party and hills could be effective for an animal theme.

Try hanging streamers from the ceiling that are in colours complementary to the theme and have piles of paper and crayons for children to do drawing and colouring in while they are at the party. You might even want to cover a wall with plain paper and allow the children to draw on that. This is something a bit different and allows them to have fun without damaging anything.

Party favours

This is something that many parents may worry about getting right, but is also a very important part of a successful party. The party bags are what children will think of as a lasting memory of the party so you need to ensure you get the right items. Try and put something in there that is directly linked to the theme. This could be an accessory for their fancy dress outfit, for example. Kids love sweets so be sure to put some of them in there. Try to find something unusual that they will remember or haven't tried before.

Stickers, bubbles and toys are all popular things to consider adding to the party bags as well. Put in a token slice of birthday cake and try to give children toys that they will actually like. You might want to consider splitting the bags into ones for boys and ones for girls. Personalising the contents a little can make the children feel more special when they leave the party, ensuring that they have the best time ever.

Summary

You don't need to spend the world to throw a great kids party - you just need a little imagination and a lot of drive! If you aren't the trying type, then you could always hire a children's entertainer too to let them take over whilst you prepare other elements of the party, as described above. Magicians are always a favourite.
